Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the practice of placing hair-thin needles into specific energy centers in the body to reduce inflammation, increase blood flow, and harmonize the energy. After several recommended weekly sessions, your body can begin to reset from old patterns that have formed and are causing dysregulation and dysfunction within the body. Acupuncture is a research-backed, safe and effective treatment for pain and many other disorders. In addition to acupuncture, Alison tailors every treatment to your individual needs, supplementing treatments with moxibustion, guasha, cupping or herbal medicine when called for. CUPPING

Cupping is a form of myofascial release that uses the negative pressure of pulling up on the muscles and fascia to increase blood flow and improve circulation to help with tension and pain. Cupping can be used as an adjunct with acupuncture sessions to enhance the treatment.

GUASHA
Guasha, translated as "scraping sand", utilizes massage-like techniques with a stone or porcelain tool. This stimulates blood flow and helps with lymphatic drainage. Guasha can be used on the face for cosmetic purposes or on the body to effectively relieve tension.

ELECTROACUPUNCTURE
As an addition to regular acupuncture treatments, electroacupuncture can be utilized to stimulate nerves, loosen tight muscles, and relieve pain. Electroacupuncture involves connecting small clips to the needles where a microcurrent of energy is passed through the needles into the body.
MOXIBUSTION

Moxibustion, or moxa, is a practice frequently utilized with acupuncture that involves the burning of the herb mugwort on specific areas of the body. Moxa can be used for a variety of reasons, including improving circulation and energy, reducing pain, and regulating hormones.
